Stock to Menu Linkage

Make a stock item sellable as a hybrid and keep its menu placement, price and inventory connected.

Who is this article for?

Managers and owners who want stock and sales to stay connected

Add a stock item to a menu when the same item should be both inventory-tracked and sold. Crunch treats that linked item as Hybrid, keeping stock and selling on one catalog record.

What Changes

The hybrid detail page includes inventory alongside Menu Assignments, Menu Variations & Recipes, Categories and Modifier Lists.

Use Assign Items to Menus for the assignment steps. Afterwards, reopen the item to confirm its sell price, recipe and availability.

Where Setup Belongs

  • Item menu assignments control menu placement, order and availability.
  • Variations hold sell prices and recipe ingredients.
  • Location inventory holds stock quantities, units and costs.
  • Modifier Lists add customer choices and, for item-based modifiers, further stock relationships.

Menu placement does not create a second inventory item or a separate independent selling price for each menu.

Check Consumption After a Sale

A hybrid can consume its finished-goods stock directly. A menu item can consume recipe ingredients, and item-based modifiers can add their own consumption. Review the sales-order detail breakdown instead of assuming every sold item uses the same path.

Keep internal ingredients stock-only when they should never be sold directly. Do not duplicate them as sellable records just to represent recipe consumption.
