Import Your Catalog During Onboarding
Seed from Square first where needed, then upload or select spreadsheets, enter items, and review catalog drafts.
Who is this article for?
Use Catalog Import in the onboarding workspace to bring in existing catalog data or prepare additional items for review.
Info
If your business is already running on Square and you are keeping it, complete POS Connect and Import from Square POS first. Seed Crunch, review the counts, and link unmatched records before adding manual items or spreadsheets. See Connect and publish Square during onboarding.
Choose Your Input Path
The available choices are:
- Upload or select a spreadsheet for a new CSV or Excel file, or one already in Business Files
- Quick manual entry for up to 15 items
- Describe to Alex for conversational help
- Import from Square POS when Square is connected
- Find my menu online for Alex to work from a published menu
Upload or Select a Spreadsheet
Uploading a spreadsheet starts analysis, not an immediate catalog update. Save changes to the mapping before validating it. If analysis fails, check the error before trying the file again.
Quick Manual Entry
Choose Quick manual entry to capture a small set of additional items. Enter the item name, type, and sell price where applicable, then use Create Draft. The button includes the item count.
Review and approve the resulting draft. Complete inventory fields, recipes, and menu assignments afterward where needed; the quick form is a starting point for catalog setup.
Describe the Catalog to Alex
Choose Describe to Alex to return to the chat. Explain what you sell and provide the names, quantities, prices, and relationships you know. Alex can help structure the information and prepare drafts, which you review before applying.
Import from Square POS
Choose Import from Square POS to open the Square seed and linking panel. Import existing Square data brings existing locations, menus, taxes, modifier lists, and sellable items into Crunch. After Seed complete, review the counts and link any matching unmatched records.
This seed is separate from spreadsheet drafts: it imports records when you start it. Use the imported catalog as your starting point, then add the recipes, costs, inventory details, and missing records needed in Crunch. Publishing back to Square is a later action.
Find Your Menu Online
Choose Find my menu online, then ask Alex to find your published menu and prepare items and prices for review. Check the source, prices, and completeness of the proposed drafts before approving them.
Tip
Use the draft review guide for spreadsheet mapping, validation, and approval. Use the Square onboarding guide for seed counts, record links, and publishing.
