Who is this article for?

Users importing or building setup data during onboarding

Review onboarding drafts before applying proposed locations, catalog items, menus, recipes, or modifiers. Alex can prepare drafts, but you decide whether to approve them.

When Drafts Appear

Drafts can come from spreadsheet imports, manual step forms, or work you ask Alex to prepare. They appear on the onboarding canvas beneath the relevant setup steps.

Info

Draft approval does not cover every onboarding action. Tax creation and team invitations have their own actions. The Square seed imports existing records when you start it; review its summary and unmatched links separately.

Turn a Spreadsheet into a Draft

1
In Catalog Import, upload or select a spreadsheet and wait for analysis to finish.
2
Open the import source and map its columns to the correct Crunch fields.
3
Click Save Mapping, then Validate Mapping.
4
Resolve the reported errors and validate again. When the mapping is valid, use Build Draft.
5
Open the resulting draft and review its proposed changes.

Validation checks required fields, values, and references. A successful validation does not replace your review of names, prices, quantities, and relationships.

Approve or Cancel a Draft

1
Open the draft node from the canvas.
2
Check the proposed records and their values, relationships, and intended locations. Correct editable fields or ask Alex to help where needed.
3
When the draft shows Ready to Review and is correct, click Approve & Apply.
4
Wait for the apply result. Confirm Applied before relying on the records as live data.

If you do not want to apply a draft, click Cancel draft and confirm Confirm cancel?. Cancelling a pending draft does not apply it. An applied draft is live workspace data; make later changes through the relevant dashboard pages.

Understand the Result

Draft statuses include:

  • Creating… while the draft is prepared
  • Ready to Review before approval
  • Approved and Applying… as it is applied
  • Applied when it finishes
  • Partially Applied, Needs Input, or Failed when attention is required
  • Cancelled when the draft is cancelled

Warning

Partially Applied means some changes may already be live. Review the result and existing records before creating another draft, so you do not duplicate successful changes.

Continue Later

You can return to the dashboard and resume through Continue Setup or View Progress. Check outstanding drafts and readiness when you return; an approved draft may still be applying.
