Who is this article for?

Managers and owners updating many items at once

Use Bulk Operations to import catalog files, export items or edit many existing records. Review the scope and results carefully because an import can create or update items.

Open Bulk Operations

Go to Catalog Items → More actions → Bulk Operations.

Choose a Template

The CSV Import Format card links to All Types, Stock, Menu, Hybrid and Service templates and the CSV Format Guide. Start from the current template for the item types you need.

CSV rows are grouped by item ID when supplied, otherwise by item name. Multiple rows for the same item can represent different variations. Use consistent names and variation identities; accidental name matches can combine rows you intended as separate items.

Use JSON for complex variation and location structures. An exported file can retain IDs for updating existing items.

Import Files

1
Prepare a CSV or JSON file using the current guide.
2
Under Bulk Import Items, drag in the files or choose Select Files.
3
Start the import and complete location mapping if requested.
4
Review created, updated and failed counts. Check individual failures before assuming the whole file succeeded.

Keep item and variation IDs when updating an exported catalog. Without a matching existing item ID, the import creates a new item. Matching names group rows within the CSV file; they do not select an existing catalog record for update. Large imports can be processed in batches, so a later failure does not mean earlier batches were undone.

Export Items

In Export Items, choose JSON or CSV and set the available status and location filters. Choose Export Items to download that scope.

Edit Existing Items

In Edit Existing Items, select item types, optionally set Filter by Tags, then choose Load Items. Expand the records, review changes and submit them together.

Use the regular item page for a one-off fix. Bulk editing and import share create-or-update behavior, so retain the correct IDs and review the result counts.
