Who is this article for?

Managers and owners shaping menu structure

Use child menus for structural sections and drag handles to order content. Item categories provide a separate grouping on the catalog records.

Add a Child Menu

1
Open the parent menu.
2
Choose Menu Contents → Add → Add Child Menu.
3
Choose Create New Menu or Link Existing Menu.
4
Complete the new menu details or select an eligible existing menu, then confirm.

A newly created child has its parent set by this flow. The existing-menu picker limits choices to eligible menus; use the available tree rather than assuming any root menu can be linked anywhere.

Order the Contents

Use Show submenus first or Show items first to decide which group appears before the other.

Drag handles reorder Items and Submenus separately. Reordering an item changes its menu position; it does not change the variation's selling price or recipe.

Choose Categories or Child Menus

Use child menus for sections such as Drinks or Desserts. Use categories to group compatible catalog items. They are separate relationships: assigning a category does not automatically create or populate a child menu.

Child menus inherit their parent's location availability. Review the root menu when the whole section needs to be available at another location.
